The Catalan Waste Agency (Agència de Residus de Catalunya, ARC) has granted ECOTIC ENVASES its final authorization to operate as a Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) for packaging and packaging waste, in accordance with Royal Decree 1055/2022 of December 27 on packaging and packaging waste.
This resolution concludes the process initiated with the provisional authorization granted in 2024 and certifies that ECOTIC ENVASES meets all the technical, organizational, financial and operational requirements established by law to carry out its activity throughout Spain.
With this resolution, ECOTIC ENVASES becomes the only packaging PRO based in Catalonia.
The system, operating under the name ECOTIC ENVASES, will manage the extended producer responsibility for household single-use packaging as well as commercial and industrial packaging, both single-use and reusable. ECOTIC ENVASES, together with Fundación ECOTIC and Fundación ECOTIC CLIMA, are managed by ECOTIC Entidad Administradora, S.L., based in Barcelona. This structure ensures efficient, transparent, and traceable management of the different waste streams across Spain, in line with the principles of the circular economy.
